Die sind hier viel höher und auch gleichmäßig über das Jahr verteilt, mit einer hohen Niederschlagsmenge im ganzen Jahr. Zwar sind hier die Sommer genauso (aber nicht heiß), aber die kühlen und gelegentlich kalten Winter sind durch Durchschnittswerte gekennzeichnet, jedoch sind in der Zeit zwischen November und März Kaltlufteinbrüche vom zentralen Balkan oder der nordöstlich liegenden Landmasse Russlands möglich und mit Schneeeinbrüchen und Temperatureinbrüchen bis deutlich unter den Gefrierpunkt verbunden.

Die Kultivierung mediterraner , wie dies häufig in touristisch erschlossenen Gebieten Bulgariens, aber auch Georgiens und dem Südteil der Halbinsel Krim der Fall ist, ist somit nur in Lagen und mit Winterschutzmaßnahmen möglich.
